Your Genealogy Search.

Where to Begin?

There are two ways to go about finding information on your family genealogy.

Follow the paper trail, from you to your parents, to their parents, to find the oldest ancestor.  This paper trail may consist of birth, marriage, or death documents.  In addition, you may look for newspaper articles, land records, probate records, and cemetery notes. After that, when all pertinent and interesting documents are collected, you will have an interesting narrative of one’s life lived.  This is Emotional Genealogy.

OR

Complete a DNA test, which may result in other family connections through DNA matches. After that, those DNA matches can then be explored and put on your family tree in the correct place.  In addition, a family search can be done to learn more about this part of your tree. Above all, this type of genealogy often leads to finding one’s birth parents or birth family. In addition, it often creates new living connections to 2nd or 3rd cousins and reconnecting with one’s lost family. This is called Genetic Genealogy

LINEAGE.

Most people on average can only name their grandparents. To be more specific, most people can only name one set of grandparent’s information. That is their date of birth and date of death. This is usually because the family moves away and is only close in proximity to one set of grandparents. This is how lots of family information is lost.

Lineage also called one’s Pedigree. You know your parent’s names and dates and both your maternal and paternal grandparent’s names and dates along with their parent’s names and dates and so on, for four generations or six or even ten. Or do you? Most people on average can only name their grandparent’s information on one side of their family. Let’s investigate your lineage and see what we can find. It’s easy. You’ll be amazed by what’s out there.

Rediscover your
family history.

Take the time now to get to rediscover your family. Ask your oldest relatives about what they remember.  Take notes and write down their stories. Try to record an interview with your parents about their childhood memories. Build a bridge of information about your family and your memories for your children.  This will be a great keepsake to share for years to come.

Organize Your Family History.

Take the time now to get to go through old photographs. Ask your relatives about the faces in the pictures you do not know. Write down the year and places. This will be a great resource for future research.
